Job Title: Journalist/Researcher & Pitch Writer for Award Winning Documentary Production Company (French, English and BIPOC candidates apply)

Description: Part-Time (Contractual)

Rotating Planet, an award-winning documentary production company is looking for a talented journalist-researcher and pitch writer to help write and produce pitches for doc/tv/podcast ideas. As a member of the Rotating Planet Productions team, our writers are responsible for researching, contacting sources and weaving together researched information within a clear and compelling story concept. We’re focused on onboarding someone not only with excellent research and structural skills but first and foremost, someone with a passion for storytelling. Position will be responsible for considering all member feedback and the needs of our various content stakeholders to create compelling and unique content. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years experience in journalism, creative writing, TV/radio/podcast writing, as well as be attentive to detail and a team-player.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Research and Investigate Stories for TV
• Write or adapt story/idea into an engaging pitch

• Brainstorm with the editorial team for new ideas and create visual decks using Indesign or similar software

• Create eye-catching and innovative loglines and titles

• Collaborate with creative team and producer

Creative Writer Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, creative writing or a related field preferred

• 3+ years of professional writing experience, with a high profile in journalism

• Knowledge of media content and writing for online platforms

• Excellent grammar and writing skills

• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

• Self-motivated and self-directed

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs as well as InDesign or similar

• Published Work and Portfolio of work an Asset

• Canadian citizen or permanent resident, BIPOC resident of Quebec preferred
