Description:

CTV Montreal is Quebec’s leading English language news outlet. We are looking for a student who will thrive in a live, breaking news environment. The successful candidate will work in the newsroom to assist with research, chasing, pitching and writing for digital and broadcast platforms. Writing quickly and correctly is essential to the job. An interest and understanding of social media, the power of video and finding new ways to tell stories is important.

Responsibilities:  

  • Assist digital and broadcast teams in all aspects of news gathering
  • Write fast, accurate, coverage of breaking news for all platforms
  • Pitch ideas for original reporting
  • Work closely with editorial and operations department on all aspect of news department

Qualifications:      

  • Currently enrolled in university level journalism program, or student in another field  with a strong understanding of and interest in journalism
  • Good news judgment, strong skills in writing and editing
  • Organized, self-motivated and creative
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment
  • A team player who gives and receives feedback well
  • Experience appearing on television to talk about stories, an asset
