As part of our “Secularism on the Move” Research project (University of York & Memorial University, Newfoundland), we are looking for two senior undergraduate or master of journalism students to assist in producing 2 x 2 podcasts (two podcasts in English and French) in the Winter 2024 semester.
Duties: coordinating with Dr. Selby and Dr. Barras in editing and producing the four podcasts (1 podcast x EN/FR x 2 students).
Qualifications: Bilingual; a full-time Université de Montréal, UQAM or Concordia student; some radio/podcast production experience; ability to work well independently, work collaboratively, be organized and reliable. We will work mostly remotely, with the possibility of intensive two-day work gathering (dates TBD).
Salary: $17-26/hour (depending on qualifications) for 40-50 hours for each position (we will hire two students).

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing all elements of volunteering at CJLO 1690AM. This involves assessing and meeting the station’s needs through the recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Recruitment and selection of prospective volunteers
● Assessing the need for volunteers specific to each department (Production, Programming, etc)
● Planning how and where to recruit volunteers and posting adverts
● Planning and coordinating intake interview with volunteers

● Planning for volunteer retention and replacement
● Developing an orientation kit, volunteer handbook or introductory programs

We are looking for a Reporter/Editor to be based in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a great opportunity as the person will be able to touch on everything related to journalism such as video editing and reporting. The successful applicant will demonstrate experience in some of the following: creating videos, producing journalism, video editing software, and grassroots organizations or social movements in Montreal. A flexible schedule—specifically to accommodate some evening events—is a core part of the role.
