Montreal Gazette’s 2019 summer internships

The Montreal Gazette is looking for summer interns who want to dive in and experience the front lines of daily journalism in Canada’s best news city.

Available positions include reporters, content editors and engagement editors; in fact, the ideal candidates are ones who could see themselves doing any one of those jobs on a given week.

Please note: these are not for-credit academic internships. They are paid, short-term contracts that will have you covering stories big and small, night and day, just like — and often in collaboration with — our staff journalists.

What we’re really looking for are agile, motivated and ambitious journalists who will help us create, curate and distribute content on our digital platforms and in our print edition. Social-media savvy, video skills and innovative newsgathering techniques are all assets we highly prize.

The nuts and bolts: Eligible applicants must be enrolled in university-level courses during the current academic year and must be fluently bilingual. (Yes, there will be a test.)

To apply, send a resumé, up to five examples of your published work and a cover letter explaining what makes you a good fit for the Montreal Gazette to by Nov. 2, 2018, 5 p.m. ET. No phone calls, please.

Interviews with chosen candidates will be set up for the weeks following the deadline. We’ll only be contacting applicants who we want to interview.
