The Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ) is seeking a post-secondary student intern to work with the CAJ board of directors and other journalists during the Winter/Spring term.
The internship will run from January 20 to April 20, 2020 and offers an opportunity to connect with journalists across the country while gaining insights into advocacy and professional development work done by the CAJ.
This opportunity is open exclusively to post-secondary students who can use the internship program for academic credit.
Duties include: conducting interviews and writing articles for the CAJ’s monthly newsletter, website and social platforms; assisting with student membership drives; assisting with research for select board committees; assisting with coordination of the CAJ’s annual awards program.
The ability to speak and write in French is an asset.
Most of the work will be done remotely since the CAJ’s board members are spread out across the country and we don’t have a main office.
We offer a small honorarium ($500), a free one-year CAJ membership, and a CAJ membership card.
Applicants are to submit a one-page letter of interest, a copy of their CV, and up to three published pieces. Please send all inquiries and applications to email@example.com with the subject line ‘CAJ internship January 2020’.
The ideal candidate will be available to attend the CAJ’s annual national conference taking place in Montreal May 29-31.
Internship applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. ET on January 12, 2020.
The Canadian Association of Journalists is a professional organization with more than 700 members across Canada. The CAJ’s primary roles are public-interest advocacy work and professional development for its members.
