Summer journalism internship opportunity

Summer internship opportunity at Your Local Journal, an award-winning community newspaper in Vaudreuil-Dorion. Looking for a flexible, curious, journalism student willing to get his or her hands dirty with every part of weekly newspaper production including social media platforms. Our paper covers everything from local politics to ongoing criminal trials, pipeline and infrastructure stories, and a healthy arts and entertainment scene. This is an unpaid position and could be completed for course credit – confirm with Department Chair.
Ideal candidate will possess their own vehicle, have a very good understanding of French, and be able to roll with the punches.
Position available immediately but the newspaper takes a three-week annual hiatus between July 16 and August 7.

Journalism Intern – Community Newspaper

We are currently looking for Journalism/Communication/Writing students who are interested in interning for a community newspaper that produces 11 issues per year aimed at Quebec’s English-speaking farming community.

This is a non-paid internship to take place in July and August 2015 to produce content for the upcoming publishing year. Schedules are flexible and can work around the student’s availability.

The Quebec Farmers’ Advocate is an award-winning newspaper that has been in circulation for 35 years. We work closely with other English-language community publications and the French-language weekly La Terre de chez nous. This intern position is an ideal way to gain experience in community reporting and agricultural news.

Intern duties could include, but are not limited to:

• Interviewing agricultural producers by phone and writing profile articles on their history, life, family and farm business
• Writing informative feature articles on other community groups working to help Quebec’s Anglophone community
• Writing profile articles on farmers’ groups within Quebec, specifically those part of the Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA)
• Locating, interviewing and reporting on successful farm- or rural-related businesses within Quebec
• Gathering photos and other visual aids to illustrate the articles for publication.

There is no travel budget for this position. Candidates will have to possess strong interpersonal skills on the phone and be able to gain the confidence of interviewees remotely. Background in agriculture an asset.

Two candidates will be hired from all applicants for similar intern positions.

We are a Montreal-based startup company looking for an Intern who can assist with the design and execution of a range of printed and digital marketing materials for our brand. The position will provide the candidate with a ground-level opportunity with the team to conceptualize, develop and deploy the product.

Function:
Under the overall responsibility and authority of the Executive Producer, Digital, the Online Editor PD1, in collaboration with other producers, will write, produce and manage web content across online, mobile and social media channels. The Online Editor must keenly understand social media and generate content that attracts and engages audiences.

* University or college graduate in relevant program(s), including: journalism, writing and communications
* 5+ year’s experience working in journalistic media

Communications Intern for the MUHC Cancer Survivorship Program

Dr. Chaput is the leader of the Cancer Survivorship Program which, since its recent media exposure, is growing exponentially. She is thus hopeful to find an intern in communications that might be interested in working with her. The main tasks would include:

Internal and external communication write-ups
Program development
Management of web platform
Article and web-based information write-ups

Dr. Chaput is very motivated to provide the proper training and guidance to this intern regarding the program itself, which would make it an exciting opportunity for any keen and responsible intern.

We are actively looking for someone to start as soon as the end of June if at all possible and for a period of minimally 3-4 months.
