Your Role:

As a Writer & Researcher, you will be instrumental in the interview process, from beginning to end. You will prepare for interviews through careful research and planning and will have the opportunity to join other content creators (reporters, videographers, photographers) on their shoots and interviews to get an objective and detailed understanding of a story. You will submit 2-5 creative, well-written articles on a weekly basis. Our team will give you the flexibility of writing in your own style, so long as it’s creative and compelling.

The ideal candidate is curious and open-minded, precise in their work and has an interest in understanding different cultures in and around Montreal. She/he enjoys getting to know an issue or person in-depth and can reflect that in their writing.

The Writer & Researcher will excel at:
– Uncovering new story ideas
– Preparing for interviews through careful research and planning
– Producing compelling written content (bilingualism a plus)

Your Role:

We are looking for a creative and dedicated Videographer & Editor that can help us capture the essence of a person, culture or business and present it in a compelling way.

The Videographer & Editor must be exceptionally comfortable with using camera and audio gear and must have experience shooting and producing high quality videos. She/he will work directly with the Content Director to put together 3-5 professional video packages per week that are between 5-7 minutes long.

The Videographer & Editor will excel at:

-Telling a story creatively and professionally through shooting and editing
-Capturing quality video footage with a camera (DSLR or other)
-Editing with precision, using software like Final Cut Pro or equivalent
-Setting up for shoots (video, audio, lighting)

*Owning your gear would be a bonus.

We have crafted a strong marketing strategy tailored to a niche segment of the media market. We are looking for a dynamic and hardworking Marketing & Communications Intern to join our team to help build brand awareness and produce communications materials that accurately reflect our marketing strategy.

Contributing Writers for CanCulture

CanCulture online magazine is looking for talented volunteer journalists to drive content production for a growing online audience. Opportunities include covering people and events in the fashion, film, art and food industries, to writing album reviews.

Writers will be dedicated to showcasing aspects of Canadian culture that highlight the talent and creativity of Canadians across the country.

Contributing writers will play a key role in creating and shaping innovative feature-type content, and must be driven and passionate about engaging readers with well-written journalism that is relevant to Canada’s culture scene.

Concordia Advancement Communcations writer

Do you have a flair for reporting good stories?

Concordia’s Advancement and Alumni Relations seeks an intern who wishes to hone his or her writing and communications skills. The paid, 10-week internship will allow the candidate to tell stories that matter to peers and Concordia alumni and allow behind-the-scenes access to the world of education, fundraising and publishing.

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills. The intern will report to Advancement and Alumni Relations’ managing editor.

The intern will research, edit and write assignments for of Concordia University Magazine. The magazine is a 64-page, full-colour, glossy publication that is mailed to 138,000 Concordia alumni, donors, faculty members and staff.

The incumbent will also research and write for other publications, as well as short features for the Accent e-newsletter, distributed monthly to 80,000 Concordia alumni, donors and friends of the university. The features may be repurposed for Concordia’s internal electronic media, including the weekly NOW e-newsletter for faculty and staff, the NOW student e-newsletter and the Concordia website, concordia.ca.

Primary responsibilities:
• Research information, conduct interviews and write shorter articles
• Help edit articles
• Help organize photo shoots
• Fact check

Requirements:
• Completed second-year BA in Journalism, Communication Studies or similar bachelor’s or graduate diploma levels at Concordia
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Strong news sense and entrepreneurial spirit
• Thorough command of the English language
• Familiarity with Word and Excel
• Social media awareness is a plus
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to multitask, complete projects and meet strict deadlines
• Be available to work during business hours at Concordia’s Advancement and Alumni Relations Office at FB 520, 1250 Guy St.

Dates: June 15 to August 21, 2015
Salary: $15/hr.

Olympic Sports Journalism Research Project

Infostrada Sports’ Biography Research Project (BRP) is responsible for researching and compiling official athlete biographies for major events like the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Pan Am Games, Asian Games and many more, as well as for websites of international sporting federations like FINA, FEI, IPC, ISU and more. Currently, the BRP is looking for researchers to join the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games research project, among others. Joining the BRP will require strong objective online journalism and writing skills, research and cross-checking skills, and a keen ability to evaluate the credibility and currency of sources. Joining the BRP will also cultivate and further your sporting knowledge. The BRP has no office, it is a global network of researchers who work from their own homes/computers, and all interaction with Infostrada staff is online-based. In addition to practical research, writing and sports-knowledge skills, you will learn to work independently while still remaining part of a team with a common goal, focusing on assigned tasks and meeting deadlines – all essential skills for media professionals in today’s online world. Videography and Social Media Intern for professional soccer team

The Laval Comets, a professional women’s soccer team and member of the USL W-League, are in search of a video and social media intern for the 2015 season. The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for the production of short, YouTube style videos, for the purposes of marketing and motivation during pre-season, regular season and the championships. As host of the championship tournament, the candidate will receive international attention as the top four teams from all over North America come to Montreal in late July.

Required skills:

– An interest in sports journalism, particularly soccer.

– Ability to shoot, edit and release YouTube style media in a timely fashion.

– Basic knowledge of ethical and professional practice in using social media.

– Access to equipment such as GoPro camera and editing software/hardware.

– Bilingualism is an asset but not required.

Fleek’d is a recently launched news and lifestyle site with a heavy focus on Gen Y culture, lifestyle and perspectives. While we have a roster of experienced writers from across North America, we are actively seeking contributors to our community section, which allows members of Gen Y to share their unique perspectives with a large audience.

The community section is not an open forum or message board, but a curated page on the website that features rants, raves, criticisms and personal perspectives by students, new grads and twenty-somethings across North America.
